Live tracking

Follow along

When an AWE team is out, their Garmin inReach posts their position to this map. You can follow the track and send the team a message.

How to use the map

  1. Pick the right team. Sometimes more than one team is out. Under each team name the map shows when it was last seen, which tells you which one is moving.
  2. Turn on the track. Click the plus sign next to the team to see its full route so far.
  3. Send a message. The arrow marks the team's latest position. Click Message, at the top left of the map, and type. It works like a text, and there's no charge on either end.

On a phone, the map works better in its own window. Use the button above.

Why the dot sometimes stops

The inReach only updates when it's switched on and can see the sky. Guides often turn it off at camp to save the battery, so gaps in the track are normal. Messages can take a few hours each way. Write anyway: teams love finding messages in the morning.

Can't reach the team?

If the map isn't showing a current trip, or you need to get word to someone, email info@awexpeditions.org and we'll pass the message to the field.
