Level 1

Stepping Stone

No experience needed · Backpacking and trekking

Two to ten days. Real adventures on their own, and the best way to get ready for bigger mountains.

Level 2

Basecamp Clinics

Learn the skills · 3,000 to 5,700 m (9,800 to 18,700 ft)

Four to eight days on approachable but serious peaks. Crampons, ice axe, rope team, crevasse rescue.

Level 3

High Camp

Go higher · 5,500 to 6,200 m (18,000 to 20,300 ft)

Longer trips at real altitude: glaciated peaks in Peru, high passes in Nepal, Kilimanjaro. For people with a skills course or a first big peak behind them.

Level 4

Peak Expeditions

Big, long and cold · Near 7,000 m (23,000 ft)

About three weeks. For people with time at altitude and multi-day backcountry trips behind them.
